CLOSING CONFERENCE 23.06.2014.

The final conference of the project Photovoltaic Systems as Initiators of Regional Development, approved as a part of the third call of the IPA cross-border programs Hungary – Croatia, was held at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Osijek on 23rd June 2014. The conference was formally opened by the dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Dr Drago Žagar, Full Professor. Further, all attendees were welcomed by the deputy mayor Denis Ambruš and the deputy prefect of the Osijek - Baranja County, Dragan Vulin. At the closing conference, the project coordinator, Dr Denis Pelin, Associate Professor presented the activities carried out during the project. The project started with the implementation on 1st March, 2013 and ended on 30th June, 2014. The main topic of the final conference dealt with the undertaken steps and activities regarding development of configuration of an optimal photovoltaic system for climate conditions of the border areas. In addition, the impact of PV systems on the electric system, economy and environment was studied and reported. The distinguished guests of the conference from the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad Dr Katić, Full Professor and Dr Branko Nakomčić-Smaragdakis, Associate Professor shared their experiences in working with a photovoltaic power plant which is located on the building roof of the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad, while the representatives of the Secondary School of Electrical Engineering and Traffic in Osijek shared their experiences with successfully implemented projects in the field of renewable energy sources (solar electric car, green skills for electrical and mechanical engineering). Hosts and participants of the conference were representatives of the project partners from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Osijek as the project leaders and representatives of the Center for Regional Studies in Pecs, Hungary Academy of Sciences as the project partner. Members of the teams presented their research results, and in the final lecture, Dr Damir Šljivac, Full Professor proposed an optimal photovoltaic system for the cross-border region regarding technical and economic approach and the approach in accordance with environmental protection.

NAPELEMES ENERGIA ÉS KÖRNYEZET /SOLAR ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENT/ - A BOOK

As a summary of the project a book was issued with the title

'Napelemes energia és környezet: A napelemes energiatermelés komplex feltételrendszere Magyarországon, a magyar–horvát határtérségben, és leckék a globális térből".

Translated into English as:

'Solar Energy and Environment: The Complex Conditions of Solar Power Generation in Hungary, in the Hungarian-Croatian Border Region and Lessons from the Global Space'.

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON 05.12.2014.

The meeting of the project partners, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (ETFOS) and the Centre for Economic and Regional Studies, Hungarian Academy of Science (CERSHAS) was held in Osijek in the rooms of ETFOS.

The following attendees were present at the meeting: Dr Denis Pelin, Associate Professor, Mario Primorac, mag.ing.el., Dr Kruno Miličević, Associate Professor, mag.ing.el Danijel Topić and Dr Damir Šljivac, Full Professor as the representatives of ETFOS and Dr Viktor Varju, Andrea Suvak, and Horeczki Reka as the representative of CERSHAS.

Dr Denis Pelin, Associate Professor, opened the project meeting and introduced the attendees with the Agenda.

First, Dr Denis Pelin, Associate Professor, briefed on all implemented activities at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Osijek and Dr Victor Varju briefed on all implemented activities at CERSHAS.

After that, mag.ing.el. Danijel Topić made the presentation on the measurement results regarding different solar cell technology used for one month (April) after which there was a discussion on the optimised configuration of PV systems (constructive discussion with particular regarding economical calculation and the solar cell technology). Mag.ing.el Danijel Topić provided the information on uploading database on the project web page.

Upon the lunch break, there was a discussion on the activities for the purpose of preparing the 2nd scientific poster for the presentation on the Final Conference.

Furthermore, all attendees were informed about the visit of delegation from the West Hungary Development Agency which resulted in the preparation plans for the visit.

After that, the attendees discussed the design of common English Language Edited Book where they agreed on the title of the book as well as the number of chapters and pages.

Dr D. Topić, Dr Damir Šljivac, Full Professor and A. Suvak discussed the progress of writing the book chapters and Dr V. Varju and Dr Denis Pelin, Associate Professor discussed the deadlines.

V.Varju provided the progress report about the arrangement of the publishing house.

The partners agreed for the next meeting to be held in Pecs on 3rd June. The partners agreed that during the Pecs meeting, after the finalisation of the Monography, the most important tasks to discuss will be the organization of the Final Conference.

Finally, the lunch was organized for the attendees. The project meeting ended in positive atmosphere.

MEASURING POWER QUALITY STARTED

On the date 05.05.2014. at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Osijek, instruments for power quality meausrement are placed.

Doc.dr.sc. Zvonimir Klaić, testing manager at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Osijek set up a power analyzer MI 2792A Snaga Q4 Plus to the electric power point of photovoltaic power plant ETFOS1 and started with seven-day power quality recording. On that date first kilowatts of electricity in the grid were released. More about this you can find at

WORKSHOP  -  OSIJEK 27.03.2014

On Thursday, 27th March 2014. Starting at 9:30 at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Osijek the workshop organized for the purposes of the project Photovoltaic System as Actuators of Regional Development was held. The already conducted activities and respective achieved results of the project approved under the IPA CBC program Hungary-Croatia were presented on the workshop.

The project implementation started on 1st March 2013 and will have finished by 30th June 2014. The project aims to developing an optimal photovoltaic systems configuration for climate conditions of the cross-border area border areas climate conditions and explore the impact of the photovoltaic systems to the electric power system, the economy and the environment. The goal of the workshop was a tour to the newly-formed laboratory for renewable energy sources and an introductions to the measurement procedures to be used in predicting the production of solar power plants given the different technologies of photovoltaic panels.

The hosts, lecturers and participants of the workshop were representatives of the Faculty of the Electrical Engineering Osijek as the project leader and the Center for Regional Studies of the Hungary Academy of Science in Pecs as the partner of the project.

The workshop began with a welcome speech of the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Professor Drago Žagar, who welcomed regional representatives of the Centre for Research in Pecs.

Lecture on experience in setting up photovoltaic panels held a lecturer Daniel Marić MEng., from the firm Solar projects d.o.o.

A representative of the Center for Regional Studies in Pecs, Andrea Suvak gave a lecture on the importance of the production of electricity from photovoltaic systems and Viktor Várj (PhD) introduced everyone with the possible influence of photovoltaic systems on the local community and economy.

After that there was a short discussion on the topic of socio-economic impact of photovoltaic systems in the region.

After the break, in the second part of the workshop Mario Primorac,MEng held a lecture about measurement of u-i characteristics of procured photovoltaic panels for all the presents and associate professor Denis Pelin held a lecture about photovoltaic emulator.

 At the end of the workshop all participants make a tour to the Laboratory for Renewable Energy where Mario Primorac, MEng did a demonstration of the measurement with the equipment, and in  Laboratory for Power Electronics, associate professor Denis Pelin demonstrate the work of a photovoltaic emulators.

 

There was a discussion about planning of future activates and workshop ended in a pleasant atmosphere.

ON 27th JANUARY 2014 PROJECT PARTNERS MET IN PECS

On 27th January 2014 in Pecs at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Center for Regional Studies the project partners meeting was held in scope of the project Photovoltaic Systems as Actuators of Regional Development, representatives of  Center for Regional Studies and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Osijek were present. Also, the meeting was attended by the programme manager Andrea Kakas as representive of the Joint Technical Secretariat. On project were presented implemented and upcoming activities with regarding to the administration, research and promotion of the project. The meeting was held in a positive atmosphere.

FACULTY OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING, ON THE DATE 16th JANUARY 2014. STARTED WITH INSTALLATION OF PHOTOVOLTAIC MODUL  

Solarni projekti d.o.o. company, on the date 16th January 2014., started with installation of photovoltaic modul on the building of Faculty of electrical engineering. Construction includes installation of different technologies on the roof of building as well as installation of moduls in laboratory of renewable energy.

PRESENTATION OF THE PROJECT DIRECT TARGET GROUPS

On  8th January , 2014. Faculty of Electrical Engineering Osijek held a presentation of “Photovoltaic systems as actuators of regional development” for teaching staff and students.

Associate Professor Denis Pelin welcomed guests and through presentation introduced all participants with CBC Programme Hungary-Croatia. Short introduction to the project, project activities, objectives and results of the project are followed.

Professor Damir Šljivac, expert in evaluation of the measurement results gave a presentation “Technical and economic characteristics of the photovoltaic system” and informed those present with characteristic techno-economic characteristics relevant for the design and selection of photovoltaic systems. He presented technical characteristics of equipment which was procured through the project.

 

Assistant Professor Zvonimir Klajic through his presentation explained what measurements will be required to execute on procured equipment related to the connection of the equipment to AC supply network, and what the expectations are due to the procured equipment. Associate Professor Denis Pelin introduced students and teaching staff with laboratory measurements on the procured equipment which should be carried out at the laboratories of the Faculty.

WITHIN THE PROJECT REG-PHOSYS WORKSHOP WAS HELD IN SELLYE, HUNGARY

On 26th of November 2013, as a part of the REG-PHOSYS project, whose holder is the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, a workshop was held in Selly, Hungary being attended by the members of the project team from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Osijek. The workshop was organized in cooperation with the Regional Committee for Renewable Energy of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Pécs. The goal of the workshop was to discuss and explore how energy production from photovoltaic systems can be effectively used in the Drava region.

Dr. Denis Pelin, associate professor and dr. Zvonimir Klaić, assistant professor presented technical information on laboratory measurements and measurements of the photovoltaic system during lectures.

Furthermore, dr. Damir Šljivac, full-professor by giving the presentation ''Photovoltaic systems from concept to implementation in Croatia'', inspired a debate about comparison of subsidizing the production of electricity from solar power in Croatia and Hungary. In addition, the presentation of a solar power plant with installed capacity of 499.8 kW was held in Sellye. It was organized by the city authorities and investors. The workshop’s closure was preceded by a discussion encouraged by Viktor Várju’s speech on ''Socio-economic conditions, investments in renewable energy“ which opened the question of the position of Drava region in Central Europe. Finally, visit to a solar power plant with installed capacity of 499.8 kW was organized within the workshop.

MEMBERS OF PROJECT TEAM FROM FACULTY OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING OSIJEK PARTICIPATED ON 17TH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON POWER ELECTRONIC HELD IN NOVI SAD

Project team members in project REG-PHOSYS from Faculty of Electrical Engineering Osijek prof Denis Pelin, prof Kruno Miličević, prof Damir Šljivac and Sonja Bošnjak participated in the 17th International Symposium on Power Electronic which took place from 30th October 2013 to 01st November 2013 and was held in Novi Sad, Serbia.

The scientific paper: „Harmonic measurements of the buck converter with bifurcation behaviour” was written by prof Denis Pelin and prof Kruno Miličević. The buck/boost converters are used as an executive block for MPPT technique of photovoltaic systems. Prof Denis Pelin presented paper on 31st October 2013 in the section Power Quality. Also, prof Pelin Denis was chairman at the section Power Quality. Prof Damir Šljivac was chairman at the section Renewable Energy Sources which was held on the 31st October 2013.

The first day of the conference was dedicated to invated lectures which are dealt with new expectations in fields of Power Electronics and Renewable Energy Sources. Members of project team from Faculty of Electrical Engineering Osijek had meetings with other scientists who participated on the Conference. First meeting was held on at 31st October 2013 in the Master Centre.

There were two objectives which were interesting: dissemination of gathered data and future work and measurements on PV system. Therefore, the contact is established with eminent scientists for publishing: prof Zia Emin (Chief Power Systems Engineer, Power Networks, Parsons Brinckerhoff, UK), prof Jovica Milanović (School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering The University of Manchester, UK), prof. Saša Đokić (The University of Edinburg, UK). Also, the meeting was held with prof Vladimir Katić and prof Branka Nakomčić – Smaragdakis about measurements on PV system.

The visit of the Faculty of Electrical Sciences, University of Novi Sad took place on 01st November 2013. During the visit team members visited laboratory of renewable energy and solar power plant laboratory. The members of project team prof Denis Pelin, prof Kruno Miličević, prof Damir Šljivac and project manager Sonja Bošnjak discussed with colleagues from Faculty of Electrical Sciences about experiences with installing and maintaining of the solar power plant.

ROUND TABLE “PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS“;PLIN2013; 25.09.-27.09.

Round table „Photovoltaic systems“ was held on first day of the 4. International Natural Gas, Heat and Water Conference. Members of project team were held two presentations about project REG-PHOSYS and one presentation of the scientific paper about photovoltaic system. Coordinator of the project D.Pelin is held presentation „Experience in obtaining and implementing the project REG-PHOSYS, IPA Cross-border programme HU-HR“, authors: D.Pelin, D.Vulin i S.Bošnjak. Team member D.Šljivac has presented work „Photovoltaic Systems from Idea to Realization“. Team member D.Vulin has presented scientific paper: „Overview of the Algorithms for Maximum Power Point Tracking in Photovoltaic Systems“, authors: D.Vulin, M.Štefok i D.Pelin. Debate about importance of the photovoltaic systems as part of electric power networks was accompanied after presentations.

ACCESSION CONFERENCE VUKOVAR 2013

To mark the second edition of the European Cooperation Day in the year of Croatian Accession, Hungary-Croatia CBC Programme organised the Accession Conference inVukovar, Croatia, on Friday 20 September 2013. This was the opportunity to celebrate Croatia’s joining the European Union through the presentation of the many ways this cross-border co-operation Programme has helped it on its European path. As the Programme is entering its final phase, it was the time to run up the scores and see how far we have come in the last seven years. Participants (200) of the Conference were the Lead Beneficiaries of the financed projects through all three Calls for Proposals, regional/local development actors, those involved in the programme management and other relevant stakeholders. Project REG-PHOSYS was represented by project coordinator, Asocciate professor Denis Pelin.

HELD LEAD BENEFICIARY WORKSHOP IMIS 2007-2013

Joint Technical Secretariat of Hungary-Croatia IPA Cross-border Co-operation Programme held Lead Beneficiary workshop which was held on 2nd July 2013 in Koprivnica at the premises of Pučko otvoreno učilište Koprivnica. The topic of the workshop was the presentation of IMIS 2007-2013, Monitoring and Information System and Guidance on filling in Progress Report followed by training. The language of the workshop was English. Sonja Bošnjak as project manager on project Photovoltaic Systems as Actuators of Regional Development and responsible for submitting the report attended workshop.

IMPLEMENTATION WORKSHOP FOR CROATIAN PROJECT PARTNERS

Implementation workshop by the Croatian project partners to implement projects under the Third Call for Proposals organized by the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds held on Friday, 14 June 2013. at the Sheraton Hotel in Zagreb. The workshop is designed for all project partners on the Croatian side participate in projects which are under the third call for proposals awarded funds, and in particular deal with practicality of implementation including preparing delivery reports on the progress of the project and the secondary supply. Implementation workshop was attended by doc.dr.sc.Denis Pelin and Sonja Bošnjak front of the project team in Electrical Engineering in Osijek project Photovoltaic systems as actuators of regional development.

On 13 June 2013 in Osijek on Faculty of Electrical Engineering Osijek project meeting for project team members and partners was held. Denis Pelin opened the project meeting and introduced present with Agenda. Short presentation of implemented activities regarding each project partner was presented. Each project partner presented tasks, plans, outputs and timeline.

Denis Pelin from Faculty of Electrical Engineering Osijek presented goals of participation members of project team on Conference PLIN 2013. Damir Šljivac expert for evaluation of measurements and results held the presentation Technical and economical characteristics of photovoltaic systems so our project partners get more familiar with that side of photovoltaic’s.

Dragan Vulin had a short presentation of equipment that needs to be bought and specified possibilities and expectations.

Viktor Varjú had presentation about the progress of IRS. Short descriptions about the conducted case studies and the results of empirical work were presented. The discussion ended in positive atmosphere in discussion of other changes in the project and new PRAG 2013.

KICK OFF MEETING OF REPRESENTATIVES FROM FACULTY OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING FROM OSIJEK AND HUNGARIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCE

As part of project Photovoltaic system as initiator of regional development which is financed through IPA cross border program Hungary – Croatia, the opening meeting of representatives from Faculty of Electrical Engineering from Osijek and Hungarian Academy of Science, Center for regional studies, is held on 19. February 2013.

Viktor Varju, Team leader from Hungarian side opened the meeting and welcomed all participants. The project presentation and discuss about project tasks are held. Viktor Varju presented all research tasks, and Croatian partners brought up web pages which can be usefull for Hungarian team to get starting information for research (www.re.jrc.ec/pvgis; www.hrote.hr; www.meteo.hr). Expert partner teams agreed the flow of research activites and time frame for next meeting.

Project activities regarding visibility of project, desing, logo, structure of web page, publishing of joint publication, holding workshops and final conference are agreed. Joint profesional project board is established and members for monitoring of implementation of the project are nominated. Members of opening meetinf were assistant professor Denis Pelin, full professor Damir Šljivac, Dragan Vulin and Sonja Bošnjak as members of Faculty of Electrical Engineering from Osijek.

CONFERENCE – THE RESULTS AND EXPERIENCES OF IPA PROGRAM CROSS BORDER COLLABORATION

The conference „The results and experiences of IPA program cross border collaboration Croatia – Hungary 2007. – 2013.“ was held on 13. Marth 2013 beginning at 11 am in city hall Osijek – Baranja County.

The conference was opened by Stjepan Ribić,PhD Director of Regional Development Agency in Slavonia and Baranja. Welcome speech gave full professor Radoslav Galić, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and fuul professor Gordana Kralik, Rector of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek. Welcome speech to all participants also gave Krešimir Bubalo, the mayor of Osijek and fuul professor Vladimir Šišljagić, Prefect of Osijek – Baranja County.

All participants were presented two projects which are approved within Third invitation for submission project proposition in IPA cross border program Hungary –Croatia, measure for the development of economic cooperation and measure for the development of common human resources through common research, development and innovation activities. Assistant professor Denis Pelin held presentation „Photovoltaic system as initiator of regional development (REG – PHOSYS), while full professor Davor Kralik present CHREN project. The main user of REG – PHOSYS project from Osijek is Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Hungary partner is Hungarian Academy of Science, Center for Regional Studies from Pecs.

The total value of the project is 123.108,50 EUR nad amount financed from European Union is 104.532,15 EUR. The project started on 01. March 2013. and lasts 16 months. The project main goal is development optimal photovoltaic system for climate conditions border area. The signing ceremony for REG – PHOSYS and CHREN arranged at the end of conference.
